Terms and conditions

Last updated: October 2026

§ 1 Scope

These general terms and conditions (hereinafter “Terms”) govern the use of the web-based bookkeeping software TaxEinfach (hereinafter “Service”), operated by TaxEinfach, Switzerland (hereinafter “Provider”).

By signing up for and using the Service, you accept these Terms in full. Any conflicting terms of the user are not recognised unless the Provider has expressly agreed to them in writing.

§ 2 Conclusion of the contract

The contract is concluded when the user signs up and confirms their email address. By signing up, the user agrees to these Terms and to the Provider's privacy policy.

The Service is intended exclusively for natural or legal persons acting in the course of a commercial or self-employed professional activity (sole traders, freelancers).

§ 3 Description of services

The Provider offers the following core features:

  • Recording and managing income and expenses
  • Categorising entries
  • Managing documents and receipts
  • Preparing annual reports and profit statements
  • Creating invoices with a QR payment part, and quotes
  • Exporting data in CSV format

The Provider is entitled to extend or change the features of the Service, or to discontinue individual features, at any time, provided this can reasonably be expected of the user.

Note on record retention: TaxEinfach is a tool for preparing and managing your bookkeeping. The statutory retention of bookkeeping records (Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations, 10 years) is the sole responsibility of the user. The Service assumes no retention obligation. The user is obliged to export their data regularly and to keep it in a suitable, secure place.

§ 4 Rights of use

The Provider grants the user a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for their own business purposes for the term of the contract. Passing on login details to third parties is prohibited.

The user undertakes not to misuse the Service, in particular not to access it by automated means, not to introduce malware and not to store unlawful content.

§ 5 Trial period, prices and payment

After signing up, the user may use the Service free of charge and without obligation for two months. No payment details are required for the trial period.

When the trial period ends, the account is switched to read-only mode: the user can still log in and view and export their data, but can no longer record new data or change existing data. To continue using the Service, the user chooses a monthly or annual subscription and gets in touch via our contact form.

The monthly subscription costs CHF 12.– per month, the annual subscription CHF 132.– per year. The prices stated on the Provider's website at the time of subscribing apply. Price changes are announced by email at least 30 days in advance. The Provider is not registered for VAT; no VAT is charged on the prices.

Billing is by invoice, in advance, for the chosen term (month or year). Invoices are payable within 30 days.

In the event of late payment, the Provider is entitled to switch the account to read-only mode after an unsuccessful reminder. The data remains viewable and exportable. Once payment has been received, the full range of features is available again.

§ 6 Term and termination

The trial period ends automatically; no notice of termination is required and no costs are incurred.

Subscriptions are concluded for an indefinite period and renew for the chosen term each time. The monthly subscription can be cancelled at any time with effect from the end of the current month, the annual subscription at any time with effect from the end of the paid year. Amounts already paid are not refunded pro rata.

Notice of termination must be given in writing via our contact form. After the end of the contract, the user's data is handled in accordance with the statutory retention periods and then deleted.

§ 7 Availability

The Provider aims for high availability of the Service but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance is carried out outside normal business hours wherever possible.

§ 8 Data backup and record retention

The Provider makes regular technical backups to ensure the operation of the Service. However, these backups serve exclusively to restore the system and do not replace legally compliant record retention by the user.

No retention obligation on the part of the Provider: TaxEinfach expressly accepts no responsibility for the statutory retention of bookkeeping records under Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations (retention period of 10 years). The user is responsible for archiving their bookkeeping data on time and in a tamper-proof manner.

Data export: The Service provides export functions (e.g. CSV export) at all times, so that the user can download their data and store it externally. We recommend using this function regularly and keeping the exported data in a suitable, secure place outside the Service.

There is no entitlement to the recovery of lost data.

§ 9 Liability

The Provider is liable only for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence. Liability for slight negligence and for indirect damage, loss of profit or loss of data is excluded.

The Provider's total liability is limited to the amount paid by the user in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the damage.

The Provider does not warrant that the Service fully meets the user's tax requirements. The user is responsible for complying with their bookkeeping obligations and for consulting a professional where necessary.

§ 10 Data protection

The Provider processes personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Details can be found in the privacy policy , which forms an integral part of these Terms.

§ 11 Intellectual property

All rights to the Service, in particular copyrights, trademark rights and other intellectual property rights, belong to the Provider. The user acquires no ownership rights whatsoever in the Service or its components.

The data recorded by the user remains their property. The Provider processes this data exclusively to provide the Service.

§ 12 Changes to the Terms

The Provider reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time with 30 days' notice. The user is notified of the changes by email. If the user does not object to the amended Terms within 30 days, they are deemed accepted. In the event of an objection, the user has an extraordinary right of termination.

§ 13 Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

These Terms are governed exclusively by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms is Bern, Switzerland.
