Thierry Schmidt
Web developer
I'm Thierry Schmidt, 31 years old and living in Bern. I work as a web developer – employed by a company – and on the side I occasionally take on private projects.
As these projects became a bit more regular over time, I decided to set things up properly: I founded a sole proprietorship and registered with the AHV compensation office (Swiss social security).
That's when bookkeeping and tax returns came up. I read up on it, talked to a few accountants and decided that simple bookkeeping was enough for me, at least for now.
When I went looking for a suitable tool, though, I didn't really find one. Most were too complicated or too bloated for my situation – and I could well imagine that others felt the same.
So I started building something myself – focused on sole traders and simple bookkeeping. That's how TaxEinfach came about.
Do you run a sole proprietorship yourself? How do you do your bookkeeping? I'd love to hear from you – drop me a line .
Being creative has never been a job for me – it's an energy inside me. I see a brand and my mind starts up automatically: What does it sound like? How does it feel? What could its advertising or website look like? A power source with a battery that's always full.
That energy led me to found LIF WORKS – a place where I can pass on my creativity, experience and know-how directly to companies, agencies and the self-employed, by helping them find their brand personality and bring it to their target audience with style and authenticity.
And when my creative battery does need recharging, I jump on my surfboard on the Limmat or by the sea, or forge jewellery in my tiny workshop – until flashes of inspiration give me my energy back.
